The City of Plymouth is celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2017. To commemorate our Sesquicentennial there is a year-long special exhibit at the Historical Museum, monthly history prizes awarded and multiple events 4th of July weekend.

4th of July Weekend 150th Anniversary Celebration Activities:

  • Thursday, June 29 - Plymouth Community Band Concert
     
  • Friday, June 30 - Music in the Air Concert--Steve King & The Dittilies
     
  • Friday June 30 - "Night at the Museum" at the Penn Theater - Free tickets available at the Plymouth Historical Museum
     
  • Saturday July 1 - "Night at the Museum" at the Penn Theater - Free tickets available at the Plymouth Historical Museum
  • Saturday, July 1 - Michigan Phil "An American Salute" Concert
     
  • Sunday, July 2 - "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942) at the Penn Theatre -  FREE showings
     
  • Monday, July 3 - Movie in the Park, "Secret Life of Pets-Kellogg Park, starts approximately at 8:30 - Free Showing
     
  • Tuesday, July 4 - “Good Morning USA” Fourth of July Parade-9:00 am
     
  • Tuesday, July 4 - Ice Cream Social immediately following parade
     
  • Wednesday, July 26 - You're Invited to Plymouth's 150th Birthday Party from 6-8 PM at the Plymouth Historical Museum. Tickets are $25 each and include admission to the party (optional) and the chance to win a Diamond Pendant.

Other ongoing and upcoming events

  • 150th Anniversary Mini Exhibits at the Plymouth District Library (through October). Featuring brief histories, photos and interesting memorabilia.
  • Kids Activity at the Plymouth District Library. Collage of what kids love about Plymouth and kids can sign a huge "Happy Birthday Plymouth" card to be carried in the Fourth of July Parade.
  • "History About the Town" activity.  Businesses in Downtown Plymouth and Old Village are displaying unique posters with historical facts about Plymouth's history. Each display will include a code for participants to record on their activity sheets or mobile devices, with participants completing the activity eligible to win a prize package.   • "Celebrating Plymouth History" Video. Produced by Highway Media courtesy of PARC, Friends of the Penn, Plymouth Historical Museum and Old Village. Video will be shown several times at the Penn Theatre in late summer/early fall with post-viewing parties.
